About Feeble Flame

Delightfully unruly theatre handmade for you, yes you, you little weirdo.

Feeble Flame is a Portland theater company founded by Ora Fruchter and Sarah Smith, whose interactive family-friendly shows are bighearted, funny, and intentionally imperfect, sending the message that there is no one right way to be. This is handmade and delightfully unruly theater for everyone who has ever felt like the instructions were written for somebody else.

Feeble Flame’s You’re Doing It Wrong! is funded in part by the Jim Henson Foundation and the Regional Arts & Culture Council and the Office of Arts & Culture, with additional support from Portland Playhouse.

Ora Fruchter (writer, lead puppeteer, puppet builder) has been making puppet theater for adults and children for twenty years. She is co-Artistic Director of Doppelskope, whose The Amazing Story Machine received a 2018 Jim Henson Foundation Family Grant and has been presented at Symphony Space, Puppet Showplace, the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival and will presented this spring at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. Her career began in New York, where she performed at La MaMa, St. Ann’s Warehouse, and HERE Arts Center, and premiered her own work at Dixon Place and The Tank. She worked most recently with Les Sages Fous as one of the first artists in residence at La Fabrique de Théâtre Insolite. Her work is playful, rigorously built and purposely open, governed by clear rules and dream logic in equal measure. orafruchter.com
